So, we bought a cheapo $20 Ikea high chair and it has been fine so far, but today the monkey seemed to have figured out how to get out of it! This chair is flimsy enough that I can see him undoing the seat belt (no, it's not even a 3-point harness) and twisting out, and falling to the ground (luckily it hasn't happened, yet)! Giggles Computer Funtime for Baby

My little monkey CONSTANTLY wants to play with the computer. A couple of times he's pulled out the mouse cable or pounded on the keys and accidentally turned it off while I'm working! And of course he cries every time I remove him from it. We're planning on giving the monkey his own computer but didn't think he'd be ready at only 8 months!

I entered the Giggles Computer Funtime for Baby software giveaway at Jolly Mom and decided to download the free trial version. It only allows you to play for 5 minutes at a time, but the monkey LOVES it! He especially liked the "raining cats & dogs" "game" -- he'd pound the keys and touch the screen as the cartoon cats & dogs fell! Now I only have to worry about him spitting up on my keyboard.

Our vacuum is a stinky piece of poo. It is heavy, has poor suction and literally stinks (is this universal or just us? our vacuums ALWAYS stink!! is it due to burning pet hair or what?)

After spending a lot of time looking at the Mystic Wonders website, I'm kind of obsessed with them and their products. I want to order all of them! I'm especially intrigued by the Prill Beads and the Willard Water, and I'm really excited about the prospect of winning the complete laundry system. I've become so sensitive to the chemicals in laundry detergents I've been known to freak out when Mr. Monkey uses the wrong kind or accidentally buys a variety that's not unscented. How great to not use laundry detergent at all!!!

I am totally not a purse person. I love bags, but a purse really has to be just right in order for me to want to carry it. Definitely not too girly. Rugged, and cool, and interesting. Hence, I am in love with this Mini Luxe purse from English Retreads. I love recycled rubber. I even have a big bag of bicycle tires just waiting to be used for some awesome product. But I don't think I have the skills to make anythign as cool as the stuff at English Retreads.

I love the Boppy pillow and don't know what I'd do without it.  The times I've had to nurse the monkey with no Boppy, I've ended up with an extra-sore back and monkey is all wiggly and uncomfortable.  i love this thing.  However, it's amazing how quickly a pillow will get worn out from being used for many hours each day, spit up on, covered in milk, etc.  So it would be good to have a backup Boppy.

On a bad fibromyalgia day like today, I can't even think about lifting the stroller.  Which is a crappy paradox since it also hurts to carry the monkey in a carrier as well.  Which means I need to have somebody help me with everythign (lucky daddy was around today).  In order to close the current stroller, you are required to squeeze the handle in such a way that even people with normal hand strength find it difficult.  For me it takes 2 hands and all my strength (on a good day).

I've loved Dr. Bronner's products for a long time.  I first discovered it about 20 yrs ago when living in a punk vegan household.  There was this wacky minty soap with nutty rants covering the label... "ALL-ONE! ALL-ONE!  ALL-ONE!"

Oddly enough, in another link to the punk scene, the drummer from The Germs was stopped for supposedly having drugs, but when tested it was just Dr. B's soap!!

Bumbleride stroller giveaway

Our stroller is pretty close to the bottom of the line.  We did get it for free as a hand me down, and maybe it's better than strollers of the past, but this thing can't even go down our bumpy road very well and it can't turn corners in a store without the wheels going all wonky.  Plus it's heavy, hard to open and close and my mom got her finger trapped in it one time while trying to close it.

Which is why I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a Bumbleride stroller.  Any stroller would be better than ours but the Bumbleride strollers are so cool looking and lightweight and sleek.

Leg Huggers

I LOVE baby leg warmers.  Such an awesome concept -- they can be arm warmers later, I can even share them with my baby, and they're the only item of clothing he hasn't outgrown and won't any time soon!  BabyLegs, Huggalugs, locally made ones -- I love them! 

I just recently heard about Agoo Leg Huggers, whose leg warmers are made of 100% bamboo, a material that's very appealing to me.  The one drawback is that all of their current patterns are pink/flowery/girly -- nothing for the monkey!  But I emailed them and was assured that they have 6 boys prints as well as 4 more solid colors coming out in March!  Yay!

Kids Konserve Waste Free Lunch Kit

I just learned that children’s lunches create 3.5 billion pounds of garbage each year!  I know that our local school system still uses styrofoam trays, even though they know styrofoam is bad bad bad -- but it's cheaper for them than having to hire people to wash reusable trays!  That's sad.

Kids Konserve makes awesome re-usable, BPA-free lunch kits that include a stainless steel bottle, stainless steel food containers, cloth napkin, and cloth lunch bag.  I'd definitely use this myself!

The ErgoBaby Carrier has got to be the best one out there today.  After trying on a ton of different carriers (some of which I couldn't even figure out how to put on), it seems that the Ergo is the one!  It's pretty simple to put on, and it rests the weight of the baby on your hips instead of shoulder and back.  SInce I have lots of back pain that's important.

Beaba Babycook love

OK, I don't have a Beaba Babycook yet but I know I will fall in love with it even more once I actually have it.   In its BPA-free container, you can steam food, puree it, and defrost/re-heat it.  The monkey has only been eating food for about a week, but we're determined to make as much food ourselves as possible instead of buying jarred baby food.  So far we've made a batch of sweet potato puree that we froze into cubes.  Seems to be going well.  But how awesome would it be if we could put food in the Beaba, where it would steam until done and then automatically shut off, and then puree it in the same container?!  Then only have ONE thing to wash after all that food preparation, instead of a whole bunch of dishes.

I imagine that this appliance could well outlast the babyfood phase too -- why not continue to use it for steaming and pureeing all kinds of stuff?

I just heard about this iPosture device.  You wear it, say, attached to your bra strap, and it vibrateds when you slouch in an effort to remind you to maintain good posture.  That would be so much nicer than mom's nagging!  I have so much back pain all the time, especially when spending a lot of time in front of the computer, or nursing the monkey -- so if this thing actually works it would be quite a benefit.

Soap Nuts giveaway

I recently had a freak-out about detergent.  I am so chemically sensitive that I suddenly was overwhelmed by the smell of our laundry detergent.  When the laundry was running at night the bleachy, chemically, fragrancy odor actually woke me up and gave me a headache.  We now only use the unscented kind, but i still don't like not knowing what's in it. 

Since Soap Nuts are a 100% natural fruit that actually cleans stuff, I think I'd be really comfortable using them, provided they don't have a weird odor and assuming they actually get stuff clean.

Zoobie Pets giveaway!

Zoobies are stuffed animal, pillow and blanket all in one.  They are super cute and it's really hard to choose a favorite animal!  I don't know which one the little monkey would like the best (there's Mashaka the Monkey, but he looks a little wierd when he's flattened out in pillow/blanket mode).  They come in the usual typical animals (bears, monkeys, etc) and also some less common ones like gazelle, wildebeest, water buffalo.

The PopATot is so ingenius -- it's like a folding, totally collapsible exersaucer. Little Monkey loves the exersaucer but at times it's just too bulky and cumbersome.  This would be so convenient to have while traveling or just while out and about this summer.
